This week of October can be described as a glorious one for Quesos del Casar, as in less than a week this is the second award we have received, both of them at the highest level: Winners of the XXIV Tasting-Competition in the thirtieth edition of the Torta del Casar Week, and the award that concerns us in this news, Gold Espiga in the modality of Torta del Casar in the VI Espiga Award Competition of Protected Designation of Origin Cheeses that has been held within the framework of the I Agroalimentary Fair Espiga in Badajoz.

We were unable to attend the prize-giving ceremony due to the fact that both awards coincided in the same week, but it was the director of the Torta del Casar PDO himself, Javier Muñoz, who collected the prize at the ceremony held on Friday 18 October, saying that ‘it is yet another recognition of a job well done and of the care taken in every detail to preserve authenticity and flavour’.

By organising the Espiga Awards, Caja Rural de Extremadura not only fulfils its corporate social responsibility in the society in which it interacts, but also promotes a vocation of service, which favours producers and industrialists and, in turn, serves as a guide for consumers inside and outside the region.

It is our turn to express once again our joy for this new recognition and our sincere thanks to Caja Rural de Extremadura for the successful organisation of the already consolidated Espiga Awards and of this 1st Edition of the Espiga Fair, which we predict will have a very promising future.
