18 Oct GRAN CASAR, Award Ceremony for the Best Torta del Casar PDO 2024 – 2025
In Quesos del Casar we are still very excited to have received this year, for the third consecutive time, the first prize for the Best Torta del Casar 2024-25 of the XXIV tasting-contest. You already know that this tasting-contest always takes place during the Week of the Torta organized by the Regulatory Council of the Protected Designation of Origin Torta del Casar, being this year, in its thirtieth edition, a new success of diffusion, attendance and sales.
Last Thursday, October 17th was the closing of the Week of the Torta at the Carvajal Palace in Cáceres. The institutional event was very well attended to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Designation of Origin. Javier Muñoz, director of the Protected Designation of Origin Torta del Casar, opened the event by giving the floor to public authorities such as the Deputy of the Tourism Area, Elisabeth Martín; the President of the Assembly of Extremadura, Blanca Martín; and the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Sustainable Development of the Regional Government of Extremadura, Mercedes Morán.
Ángel Pacheco, current president of the PDO Torta del Casar Regulatory Council, and his predecessor, Ricardo Regalado, then spoke and summarized the achievements and work carried out during these 25 years of the Designation of Origin.
Then it was the turn of our director, Mario Blasco Rey, who paid tribute to his parents for the merit and effort made in the family beginnings of the company. He also expressed his gratitude to all the personalities involved for their efforts in making Torta del Casar the emblem it is today, a unique cheese from Extremadura with an unmistakable flavor. Finally, continuing with the words of gratitude, he made a special mention to all the human team of the company Quesos del Casar, who with their daily work and commitment are the ones who make possible the great recognition of quality that today our brand GRAN CASAR holds in the market.
The event continued with more award ceremonies and various activities such as the round table “Dialogues around the Torta del Casar” with the participation of the former president of the Junta de Extremadura, Juan Carlos Rodríguez Ibarra, the gastronomic journalist Carlos Santos and the presenter of the COPE program “A cuerpo de Rey”, Carmen Cómez.
