The whole team at Quesos del Casar S.L. are enormously proud… for the third consecutive year we have been crowned winners of the XXIV Torta del Casar DOP Tasting Competition.

The event took place yesterday, Wednesday 16/10/2024, at the Atrio restaurant in the capital of Cáceres, and was judged by a professional jury made up of five gastronomic specialists: the chef Alejandro Hernández from the Michelin-starred Versátil restaurant; the director of the Cheese Institute, Luisa Villegas; the professional taster and former coordinator of the tasting panel of the PDO Manchego Cheese, Pedro Condés; and the journalists Carlos Santos and José Ramón Alonso de la Torre.

The members of the jury considered parameters such as the colour, texture and thickness of the rind, the colour of the paste, its smell, creaminess and, of course, its flavour, also taking into consideration its persistence in the mouth once consumed.

After a close deliberation, the jury decided in favour of our Torta del Casar DOP GRAN CASAR. Our director, Mario Blasco, emphasised that ‘it is a source of pride to win this special award again and, above all, to do so for the third year in a row. This recognition is a way of feeling that we are doing things well’.
